THE FACTORY LIVE ARE THRILLED TO WELCOME THE UK SUBS TO WORTHING
2024 marked the U.K. Subs’ 47th anniversary of the band and saw Charlie Harper reach his 80th birthday on 25th May! This legendary punk band continues to represent the true spirit of punk rock. Inspired by the Damned at the birth of British Punk, the now equally legendary Charlie Harper formed the Subs out of his then R&B outfit The Marauders, circa summer 1977.
Starting out as The Subversives, the name was shortened to The Subs and then changed to U.K. Subs, whilst early line-ups merged their high-speed R&B sound into punk. With a fabulous line up in place of Charlie Harper, Steve Straughan on guitar, Alvin Gibbs on bass and Stefan Haublein on drums, the U.K. Subs continue to entertain, enlighten and enthuse with blistering recordings as well as their ever-popular enthralling live shows. Like a vintage wine – the U.K. Subs just get better and better.
WITH EPIC SUPPORT BY GUITAR GANGSTERS
With a history spanning more than 30 years, 11 studio albums and countless tours in 28 countries, Guitar Gangsters continue to produce stunning lives shows and new releases which remain true to their melodic punk roots – slices of urban life, failed love, failed ambition and social politics packed into three-minute power punk gems.
Guitar Gangsters rose to the surface of the tidal wave of post punk guitar bands of the late 1980’s appearing on the seminal “Underground Rockers” compilation alongside similar revolutionaries, The Senseless Things, The Crack & Manic Street Preachers. Recording their first album in 1988, the band found its voice through the influence of the first wave of punk with a salute to the impact of bands like The Boys, Generation X, The Pistols, Ramones, The Saints and The Clash. With infectious melodies and irrepressible anthems, the band toured with Stiff Little Fingers in the UK and cemented their place as a formidable live act in the early 1990’s.
